Before working offshore, individuals may be required to get an Oil & Gas UK (OGUK) physical examination to certify their health and ability to work. These physical examinations must be performed by doctors who have been certified by the OGUK.
Formerly known as OKOOA, an OGUK examination will evaluate personal health factors such as:
- BMI
- Vision
- Hearing
- Blood pressure
- Lung function
- Urinalysis
- Medical history examination
Workers in emergency response, diving, and climbing teams, as well as some other zones, may have additional evaluations. Passing the examination results in a certificate of fitness that can be valid for up to two years.
OHC’s Dr. Terry Taylor is the only OGUK certified doctor in Alabama and from Baton Rouge, LA to northwest Florida who can perform OGUK physical examinations.
