Are you making your health a priority? National Women’s Health Week, an observance led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health, is a weeklong reminder to women and girls to make their health a priority.

It’s not always easy to make your own health a priority, especially during a crisis like the COVID-19 outbreak. Despite the current challenges we are all facing, there are small things women can do that will make a big difference in the long run.

Things you can do now include:

  • Stay active. Whether it’s indoors or outside, commit to moving a little every day. The recommended amount of movement is 2 hours and 30 minutes a week – that’s just 30 minutes a day!
  • Get sleep. Try to consistently get seven hours of sleep each night.
  • Eat healthy meals. Incorporate a variety of fruits and vegetables into your diet.
  • Stay connected. It’s important for your mental health to stay connected to friends and family, even if it’s just by virtual methods like FaceTime and Zoom.
  • Talk to your doctor. If you are sick, have an underlying health condition, or begin experiencing increased amounts of stress, talk to your healthcare provider now to help create a healthcare plan that works for you.

Even small changes over time can lead to major benefits down the road.
